Joe Chambers
Sport: Wheelchair Basketball

Joe Chambers, a member of the Wisconsin-Whitewater War Hawks wheelchair basketball team, joined the U.S Men’s Wheelchair Basketball National Team in 2006. Soon after, the U.S team won the silver medal at the IWBF Gold Cup in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Chambers, who is a cancer survivor, is an above knee amputee. Chambers was introduced to wheelchair basketball by Whitewater teammate Scott Harrington; “I owe him for all my success today,” says Chambers.
Chambers is attends the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a double major in Sociology and Criminal Justice. His future plans include continuing to play wheelchair basketball as well as coaching able-bodied basketball at his high school. Some day Chambers hopes to be a parole officer for troubled children.
Chambers is a member of the gold medal winning US Wheelchair Basketball Team at the Parapan American Games in 2007. Also in 2007, Chambers was National Champion, First-Team-All-American for the Wisconsin Whitewater Warhawks. Chamber’s focus now is training in order to make the 2008 Paralympic wheelchair basketball team and compete at the Beijing Paralympic Games.
