Long Term Disability for Employers

Pays benefits equal to a portion of the employee's wages when employees can't work because of long-term disabling illness or accidental injuries that happen on or off the job. Employers can select benefit amounts, how long benefits will be paid, and other plan features.

In LTD, our focus is on abilities and creating positive outcomes. Features like these play a big role in treatment plans that help people return to work:

  • Rehabilitation — clinical and vocational
  • GuidanceResources® — offering employee and work/life assistance with personal problems (optional).
  • Family Care Credit — to defray childcare costs during rehab programs
  • Workplace Modification Benefit — including adaptive equipment
  • Partial Benefits — for part-time return to work
  • 100% Return-to-Work Incentive — allows benefits plus earnings to replace 100% of pre-disability earnings for a specified period
  • Social Security Assistance — for application and appeals

We also offer a Travel Assistance Program that provides emergency medical assistance and other travel services for employees.

LTD easily integrates with STD, FMLA Administration and Workers' Comp.

At no additional cost, our employers also have access to various levels of information management reporting.

Our Ability Philosophy

Ability Management® is our approach to disability claims, based on the idea that people want to live active, independent, productive lives. To help make that happen, we bring together the right products, services and people to empower individuals to reclaim their lives. At the core of our disability programs are:

  • a focus on abilities and claim management
  • return-to-work services and benefits
  • contract incentives that encourage rehabilitation

The other side of the coin is the effect that individual empowerment and return-to-work programs can have on business productivity. Our Ability Management® approach encourages:

  • raising expectations for maximum workforce productivity
  • improving employee safety and health
  • reducing unnecessary absences
