The Hartford

The Hartford Group Benefits Disclosure Policy

The Hartford is fully committed to transparency and the disclosure of producer compensation information. The Hartford obligates producers to disclose compensation information to customers in the following instances:

  • When asked by a customer
  • When receiving both a fee from the customer and compensation from The Hartford
  • When otherwise required by law

Producers must comply with all applicable laws, including any pertaining to the disclosure of compensation information. Certain states may prohibit or place restrictions on the ability of producers to charge fees to their policyholders. In addition, Federal and State law may impose additional disclosure requirements on producers.

The Hartford Group Benefits General Disclosure Notice (seen below) describes the various means by which producers may be compensated for the sale of The Hartford's products. It is the responsibility of your producer to share with you the specific information surrounding their compensation arrangements with The Hartford. Accordingly, please direct any compensation disclosure questions directly to your producer.

Disclosure Notice to All Policyholders
The Hartford compensates producers for the sale and service of our products. In most cases, producers are paid a commission, which is fixed or based on a percentage of the premium. In addition, producers may be eligible for various forms of incentive compensation, including contingent commission and other non-cash awards. Incentive compensation is based upon a variety of factors that may include the level of premium written, retention and growth of premium, overall profitability, or other performance measures. Some of our producers elect not to accept some or all forms of compensation from The Hartford. Please direct specific questions regarding your insurance producer's compensation directly to your insurance producer.

1The charging of any fee to a customer/policyholder is solely a decision by the producer acting on its own behalf and not on behalf of The Hartford.

2It is not the responsibility of The Hartford to inform producers of Federal and State requirements. Producers must seek advice from their attorneys and any other resource they utilize for legal advice.
